With a 75% on rotten tomatoes, The film “Don’t Worry Darling‘ is about a couple named Jack(played by Harry Styles) and Alice(played by Florence Pugh) who live in the 1950s. The couple live in a small closed community that is taken over by the Victory Project. The Victory Project is an experimental company town and the men who live their work for a top-secret company. For the wives, they cook, clean, and live a pretty descent life as a stay at home wife. But something took an unexpected turn that leaves Alice questioning every bit of thing that goes on in this community. A lot of twist and turns happen and I want to share my thoughts about this movie.
Was the hype worth it?
Yes. I feel for myself that if I love an actor/actress the movie to me is a 10/10. Florence Pugh is an extraordinary actress who portrays Alice so amazingly that I really can’t think of some other actress playing Alice. For Harry Styles…he tried. Yes, this is his first “big boy” movie, but there were some scenes that he did that left people giggling and making you get secondhand embarrassment. But overall as a Harry Styles fan, he did so good I couldn’t be more proud of him.
It was really hard to get hyped for this movie. I say because if Marvel comes out with a film the hype can be seen all over Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter, and many other social media platforms. But users were bashing this movie making it seem like it’s the worst movie to be ever made. But if you love the 1950s era, horror, murder, mystery, and FLORENCE PUGH(I can’t stress this enough), then you’ll absolutely love this film. When seeing all the hate on social media it made me have doubt that this movie will be good/successful. And when I told people I was going to see this movie all they did was laugh. But I went and saw the movie, and I was in awe. I fell in love with this movie. Yes, there were scenes that could’ve been left out, or made a bit longer/understanding(felt like things were a bit rushed.) But the cliffhanger is the reason why I can’t stop talking about this movie and if they made a part 2, I would go and see it in a heartbeat.
Director Olivia Wilde did cause drama in this movie that made it hard to watch in a way. Reports that her and Harry Styles are dating(first of why?), Her and Florence didn’t get along due to the fact that she would run off canoodling with the main actor, which caused tension to even finish the film. Florence Pugh actually had to take over some scenes because Olivia Wilde wasn’t present or taking responsibility at that time. Also, to come to my surprise, Harry Styles wasn’t the first choice for Jack. The role was originally given to Shia Labeouf. And if you are a big Hollywood drama fan like me, you would know that he is one of the most controversial actors to even lay eyes on Hollywood. I was surprised that he even landed the role in the first place due to harassment and sexual assault issues that he had in the past. Apparently Florence Pugh was scared to work with him so she demanded Olivia Wilde to fire him. She did. But, Olivia sent Shia a video trying to let him come back and that Florence was in the wrong and soon after, someone in Shia’s team leaked the video to be seen all over social media. The term “miss Flo” became a social media laughing stock and was used basically everywhere and actually, gave the movie the hype because people came to defend Florence Pugh.

Overall, I would give this movie a 9.7/10. I just wished the ending was explained better. Hopefully a part 2 is coming along and we can finally get the ending we wanted to see. This movie will have a special place in my heart because of Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. Please go see it I promise the hype is worth it! It is rated R, so if any of my younger viewers want to see it make sure you have a parent, guardian, or accompanied by someone who is 21 years of age to see the movie.
